Zoning-Out To Ocean Meditation CDs Is Positively Youthifying
True sad story: I just went to New York - cray-cray capital of the world - and forgot to bring my trusty CD player and disc of Meditative Ocean: Timeless Pacific Surf with Theta Brainwaves by Dr. Jeffrey Thompson.
By packing lamely, and leaving those behind, I not only broke one of my top New Year's resolutions, I also put myself into a mini state of panic. Unfortunately I suffer from anxiety from time to time, and I like to stay on top of the sitch by zoning-out to the sound of crashing surf.
But besides keeping the stress dialed-back, I also firmly believe that my little nightly CD player sesh is having a youthifying effect on my whole damn bod.
I just pulled this little intel-nugget off the Sounds True website, which is where I originally nabbed my beloved surf-noise CD:
Dr. Jeffrey Thompson’s clinical research with thousands of patients has led to groundbreaking discoveries of how sound-frequency patterns built into music can alter states of consciousness and induce mind-body healing. His audio programs are used by Fortune 500 companies, healthcare professionals, and by individuals worldwide.
Okay, so maybe zoning-out to ocean meditation CDs won't erase wrinkles the way retinol will, or even whisk away facial peach fuzz as brilliantly as a Dermaflash, so you don't look like a furry old lady. But mind-body healing is nothing to sneeze at, right? Like isn't mind-body healing totally desirable, and something to strive for? I thought so.
That's why, instead of drinking gallons of booze with my Gotham gals - sparkling rosé! Champs! Malbec! yummy vegan cocktails at Nix NYC! - I should have just gone on YouTube and ocean-meditated. That's right - I didn't have my ocean CD with me, but that doesn't mean I couldn't have come up a with a solid Plan B and gone on YouTube.
I could have watched, listened to and meditated with:
My point is that there was no real excuse for me to drop the ball, but I did. There are almost as many ocean meditations on YouTube as there are grains of sand on the beach, and I know that. Of course, they probably don't have the special sauce that Dr. Thompson's CD does - the imbedded Theta brainwaves - but they're still relaxing.
Now that I'm home in sunny FLA, I'm hopping right back on the ocean meditation bandwagon. Just remember: when you're less stressed you look younger. Heck, when you're less stressed you are younger. It's youthifying, so dive on in.
