FBP Miami Shelfie: Renée Frigo Graeff
I met Renée August 2015 via our mutual bud, celebrity chef and restaurateur Art Smith. (You might remember him you from his days as Oprah’s personal chef.) We had just finished brunch at Jane’s and I was dropping him and his hubby Jesus off at the Naples Bay Resort. He suggested I come back with my swimsuit to hang out and meet his good friend Renée who was coming down from Sarasota with her kids. He thought we’d be fast friends.
He was so right.
J’adore Renée. I only wish she lived closer so we could hang out more. I truly cherish every moment spent with her. She’s smart and hilarious, the real deal.
A bit of background: Renée was a music exec in LA when she had an idea for an olive oil company after her Italian honeymoon. Et voilá, Lucini - sold everywhere from Whole Foods to Wal-Mart - was created. Renée currently mentors many women entrepreneurs across Florida, serves as brand advisor to several major restaurant groups and celebrity chefs, and is past-president of Slow Food Miami, where she currently resides with her two children.
BTW, her amazing 16,000 mile around-the-world journey via boat with kids in tow is a must read for anyone searching self-discovery advice.
Renée's charitable spirit may contribute to her eternally radiant glow; as I type this up, she's heading to a new school opening in India for 9-year-olds, who if they stayed in their village, would have died of starvation. Families literally walk for days to drop off their sons, saying goodbye for up to 10 years. Renée's generosity will help feed these children for a year.
So now that you know all about Renée's substance, it's time to find out about her style.
Specifically, what's in her beauty stash? What Miami-area experts does she lean on to look so great?
Here she tells us in her own words:
I love my semi-permanent lashes…especially the 3D (full volume/short with J curl). Shoko in Sarasota and Alexandra at Sultry in Miami are the best! If I have my eyelashes, Chanel CC cream (light foundation to cover) and red lipstick, I can walk out the door.
I absolutely need to exfoliate with L’Occitane Reine Blanche twice a week and I use MAC Make Up Wipes to not wash off my lashes so they last longer. I love Advanced Night Repair, The Revitalizing Supreme Anti-Aging Creme and ReNutriv by Estee Lauder. If I get a spot and sometimes I do - I love/steal La Roche-Posay Effacer Duo that my 14-year-old son uses from Walgreen’s. Phbotanical’s Organic Wild Sage Spirit face spray is a favorite too.
I love hot baths with the Italian L’Erbolario brand that I get at Sarasota’s Herbarium. If I have time I will use Jergens Natural Glow Firming Moisturizer. I’m loving my coconut-papaya -mango bar from Good Soap. For perfume, I wear very little due to being in the food business so long, keeping outside smells to a minimum. I like the cream versions of Coco Noir and Michael Kors.
I start with Chanel CC Cream sometimes over moisturizer if it's not too hot in Miami. Chanel eye palette Les 4 Ombres for shadow and brows with the Chanel 14 eye contour brush. For liner, I really love the Bobbi Brown Black Ink Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner with the brush so my lashes are protected (no oil) and it doesn’t crease at the top of my lid! I have the Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in natural with the Chanel brush. My two favorite red lipsticks are Chanel 444 and Nars Powermatte Lip in Starwoman a great blue-red that doesn’t come off! My 12-year-old daughter gave me her Melted Matte by Too Faced in a nude which is great for daytime.
I am partial to regular blowouts at Luca Mencarini in Miami or Blo Blow Dry Bars wherever I am. At home I’ve been using Bumble and Bumble thickening shampoo and conditioner, sleeping on it wet then running Il Parodi Nut Oil from Italy through my hair - a suggestion my good friend and celebrity stylist Nina Paskowitz taught me - or I like to spray Rare Elements Leave-In Mist from Beverly Hills for hydrating and shine. In between color appointments, Rita Hazan Root Concealer Touch Up Spray is handy.
(NOTE FROM DIANA: Not true re needing help over 50. Renée is naturally luminous sans makeup just like the first time I met her poolside.)
