Cocktail O'Clock: These Low-Cal Recipes Featuring BluePrint Juices Are Perf For Memo Day Weekend
At my last magazine job, at Bride's, every last human being in our office was "cleansing" with BluePrint juices. Deliveries would show up by the hour, and the staff refrigerator was packed with mini BluePrint coolers.
If memory serves, I gave it a go once, too, but decided I needed to actually eat if I wanted to get any writing and editing done.
You know, like chew? Real food?
Anyhoo, my little ol' ears perked-up when the BluePrint crew recently reached-out with these genius-y cocktail recipes. Lately I've been really thinking about the calorie counts in my fave alcoholic bevvies. And I know that in addition to cutting back across the board (from, say, six drinks per week to four), I should be making smarter choices.
At least I don't still have a nightly Kona Big Wave Golden Ale, like I did when I first moved here four years ago. Baby steps...
Okay, off we go with these recipes, which all feature the following yummy, good for you, organic BluePrint juices:
Lime Kick - perf for margaritas + mojitos
Pineapple Power - perf for rum punch
Jalapeño Refresh - perf for a "skinny" margarita
Watermelon Thrive - perf for a newfangled martini
Lemon Yay - perf for a tart, citrusy cocktail
1. BluePrint "Skinny"
& Spicy Margarita
100 ml Silver Tequila
1.5 cups BluePrint Lime Kick
.5 cup BluePrint Jalapeño Refresh
How-To: Mix all ingredients in your cocktail shaker with ice. Pour into glass + garnish with lime wedge.
2. BluePrint Pineapple
1.5 oz Light Rum
.5 oz Giffard Banane du Bresil
3 oz BluePrint Pineapple Refresh
How-To: Add fresh mint, rum and Banane du Brasil to glass and slightly press to release oils. Add Pineapple Refresh and top with ice. Garnish with a pineapple leaf, if you happen to have one. (And holla - most Florida homes do.)
1.5 oz Blanco Tequila
.75 oz Elderflower Liqueur
2 oz BluePrint Jalapeño Refresh
1 pinch salt
3D orange bitters
How-To: Add all ingredients to your cocktail shaker and "dry shake" (aka without ice). Add ice and "wet shake." Double strain into your glass and serve up. Garnish with a cucumber slice a dusting of cayenne.
1/2 cup Vodka
1 cup BluePrint Watermelon Thrive
1/4 cup Simple Syrup
Squeeze of lime
How-To: Load all ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain into your glass. Garnish with a lime twist.
4 oz BluePrint Lemon Reset
2 oz Coconut Milk
2 oz Tequila
1 oz Triple Sec
How-To: Load all ingredients into a cocktail shaker. Shake and strain into your glass with ice. Garnish with a lemon twist.
