Polished: Trending New Nail Colors For Augmenting Your Gorgeous Florida Glow
Early January, I asked Veronica (my nail tech at Philip Douglas Salon) if she notices polish color preferences among her diverse clientele. She noted how locals this winter were selecting fall fashion colors; her snowbirds who arrived in November, mostly neutrals and mauves (Zoya’s a favorite); short-term visitors are requesting full-on color. Think bold bright corals, oranges and reds.
Wondering if this was true on the other coast, I sought out Vivi Tran’s take. As the go-to nail pro at Palm Beach’s Paul Labrecque Salon and Spa, her discerning ladies span a similar gamut to the gals in Naples, all oozing class and sophistication from head to toe.
FBP: What’s hot right now during high-society season?
Vivi: “Our clients love Londontown Polish (note: as do ScarJo and Angelina for its vegan 9-free ingredients.) The ladies of Palm Beach gravitate toward the color "Invisible Crown". It's the perfect pink; light enough to look natural, yet offers enough coverage to hide minor nail blemishes. It is clean, polished, and complementary to any outfit!
Rarely do we get someone who strays from the natural colors like "Invisible Crown" or "The Full Monty," but when we do, they go red! "Vendetta" is the most vibrant red we carry. It will make you feel sexy and liberated -- think Tom Ford's "Fucking Fabulous."
FBP: What about those visiting for shorter durations?
Vivi: Tourists on Palm Beach love the colors! The blues. The purples. The corals. The metallics.
Why not go a little wild? You're on vacation! I can't even count how many bottles of "Kissed by Rose Gold" I've gone through. "Guilty Pleasure" is a pink that is sure to match any Lilly Pulitzer outfit you have in your closet. Need ‘something blue’ for that Palm Beach wedding? "Paddington Blue" never disappoints.
FBP: With so many choices, how do you guide your gals when they can’t decide?
Vivi: “Keep in mind that although these are some of our most popular colors, they may not be the color for you. It’s important to choose a color that compliments your complexion. The right color will leave your hands and feet with a healthy glow. Put the right color on and instantly you have a tan."
And who doesn’t want that?
