Beauty Guru Dina Elliot Shares Her Product Picks For Troubleshooting Any FBP
If you’ve ever wondered which salon products are a worthy splurge, this post is for you.
Meet Dina Elliot, whose company Exit One Solutions is the go-to marketing, advertising and PR company for many high-end brands encompassing star stylists, plus professional hair and skincare products sold exclusively at salons and spas.
She’s also my hair and skin doctor; not a visit goes by when she’s not spraying something on me or prescribing something to fix my frizz or facial lines.
Best yet, I’m proud to call this gal a friend. It’s funny how our paths never crossed until Naples. We’re the same age, grew up 15 minutes apart from each other in NJ, have mutual girlfriends from high school, and did time in NYC, where she studied at Juilliard on the path to becoming a professional opera singer and earned her journalism degree at NYU.
Full disclosure: I’ve freelanced for her. And trust me upon walking into her offices, the client product walls and shelves are seriously mind blowing. Here’s a peek:
So here’s the thing: when someone like Dina has access to anything and everything, who doesn’t want a peek at her personal stash?
Reminiscent of Sephora’s warehouse, turns out it’s a generous mix of client lines and other brands she loves.
By category, in her own words, here’s her take on what works for solving her Florida Beauty Problems:
My name is Dina and I have a skincare addiction….seriously.
Makeup and I have love/hate relationship depending on the day and Southwest Florida’s weather and humidity. My morning routine is fairly streamlined (working moms don't always have the luxury of long makeup application time!)
One makeup range that I adore and use often is Au Naturale Cosmetics, a clean, sustainable, natural range handmade in Wisconsin. If you haven't tried their makeup, you owe it to yourself to try it!
Products that always deliver great results for me:
Dior's Capture Dreamskin does double-duty as a skincare treatment, primer and illuminator. It works alone, but it's also perfect under foundation.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation - love that it's lightweight and lasts. If you want more coverage, it's buildable! Also recommend Au Naturale Semi-Matte Powder Foundation - it delivers great coverage and almost airbrushed finish while not drying out your skin!
Au Naturale's Pore Minimizing Finishing Powder is a lifesaver.
YSL Touche Éclat highlighter/concealer is a classic must-have. The company calls it a "magic wand" and it is!
My go-to blushes (great for travel) are Au Naturale's Anywhere Crème Multistick (which also can be used on lips and eyes) and Urban Decay's Naked Flush that includes bronzer, blush and highlighter in one palette.
Even though I live in Florida, I don't sit out in the sun and tan very often, but love a sun-kissed glow. Au Naturale Luminous Cream Bronzer Stick is awesome and gives the right amount of "tan". Another to try is IT Cosmetics Anti-Aging Matte Bronzer, Luminizer and Brightening Blush Palette.
I admit I have a problem with lipsticks and glosses - I have way, way too many! Love Charlotte Tilbury (my faves are Pillow Talk and Very Victoria), Tom Ford lip color (adore his more intense shades for night), MAC and Au Naturale.
Mascara - Don’t laugh, but my Maybelline Great Lash is what I always come back to. I have tried so many expensive ones that promise miracle lashes yet don't deliver. L'Oréal Paris Voluminous and Au Naturale's are also excellent.
