While St. Pete Chicklets Heart Essential Oils, Naples And Marco Island Ladies Swoon Over Fancy Soap
During my weekly trip to Marco Island's Farmers Market this morning, I made a beeline for Nina's Naturals - a popular stand for residents and snowbirds alike.
Proprietor Nina Downs crafts her glycerin and goats-milk soaps in her Naples kitchen using playfully-shaped molds - sea shells, Buddhas, flora and fauna - to create hand-sized soaps in juicy jeweltastic colors, incorporating local honey, essential oils, vitamin E and loofah sponges into her pieces. And they smell heavenly - not heavy on the fragrance.
PS, if you're trying to lure your tots into the tub, she offers soaps shaped like toy cars, dinosaurs and mice-ears. (A nod to a certain major mouse who resides in Orlando?) On Saturdays, she sells soap at the chic Third Street South (try saying that 3 times fast!) Farmers Market in Old Naples. Sadly - for her fans anyway - she doesn't have a website, so visit Nina in person. Prices start at $5.
